The Project

The Philharmonie de Paris is a complex of concert halls in the heart of Paris. The symphonic concert hall at the centre of this project can seat up to 2,400 people and hosts a variety of music concerts and events. The complex demands excellent sound quality to support the major musical events it holds.

Key value we brought to the project

The project brief was to provide the very best orchestral and operatic acoustic experience in the world. Farrat designed and supplied 394 acoustic isolators across 344 locations each with their own load profile comprising of 24 different loading scenarios to completely decouple the entire (publicly accessible) roof space from the recital hall below. Post fit-out, the internal noise level below the roof has been measured at NR10 and the Philharmonie has entered the top 10 of civic venues in terms of acoustic performance and response.
