Located in Purley, Hylton Health Clubs is a premium health and wellness destination designed for those who expect more from their fitness experience. Combining a high-end gym, HYROX and hybrid training classes, a dedicated reformer Pilates studio, a recovery suite, and a café with co-working space, the facility has been carefully created to support performance, recovery, and long-term wellbeing.
As with many modern mixed-use developments, delivering a premium fitness environment came with a unique challenge. The impact and vibration generated by dropped weights within the gym’s strength training areas were travelling through the building structure and into the residential flats located directly above. While high-intensity training is an essential part of a modern health club, uncontrolled structure-borne vibration can affect the comfort and experience of neighbouring occupants.
To overcome this challenge, the project team sought a solution that would minimise vibration transmission without compromising the performance, durability, or user experience of the gym itself.
Farrat provided its LeisureFLOOR floating floor system, a specialist vibration isolation solution engineered to reduce the transmission of impact vibration and structure-borne noise generated by gym activities. By creating a resilient separation between the gym floor and the building structure, the system helps absorb and dissipate energy from dropped weights and high-impact training before it can travel into adjacent occupied spaces.
The solution enabled Hylton Health Clubs to maintain the high-performance training environment its members expect while significantly improving acoustic performance within the development.
