The Project

Xscape is Milton Keynes’ largest entertainment venue combining a variety of fun-filled activities under one roof.

The Hollywood Bowl bowling alley includes a coffee bar and diner, as well an arcade and private party areas. The 19-lanes are all equipped with bumpers creating an inclusive atmosphere for players of any ability, with the addition of a VIP area. The bar area which stays open late into the night means visitors can enjoy their visit late into the evening.

Key value we brought to the project

For this project, we utilised our BowlFLOOR MAX products and supplied and installed them for Mansell Construction who were the main contractors for this project. The range is designed around a carefully calculated trio of isolators and combined with a concrete slab to achieve the highest levels of acoustic isolation with competition standard deflection consistency. Due to the architectural levels being set higher than our standard BowlFLOOR MAX system, we used timber battens on top of the acoustic floor isolators to increase the FFL to match the surrounding areas of the bowling lanes.

BowlFLOOR MAX

Providing high levels of acoustic isolation to bowling lanes is difficult as the isolators must be soft and compressible, yet resist varying loads across the approach, lanes and pinsetter. This has the potential to lead to inconsistent deflection. BowlFLOOR MAX is designed around a carefully calculated trio of isolators and combined with a concrete slab to deliver the very highest levels of acoustic isolation with competition standard deflection consistency.
