Ealing Picturehouse Cinema, London
Project Overview
The Challenge
Ealing Picturehouse, which was originally constructed in 1934 as the Forum Cinema, has seen numerous cinematic transformations during the last 89 years. Throughout its lifetime, it has been operated by ABC, Cannon, UGC, and Cineworld before being converted into a 3-screen cinema in 1975. Empire Cinemas took over the location in 2005 and closed the cinema in September 2008. In 2021 Farrat was tasked with designing and manufacturing a detailed acoustic isolation solution for the newly developed iconic 8-screen, 900-seat, state-of-the-art cinema, situated to the rear of the existing site which will showcase the very best that the world of film has to offer, from blockbuster to arthouse.
The Solution
Farrat’s Cine range provided optimal acoustic isolation for the new cinema as part of a detailed solution to contain noise and vibration at each point of origin and avoid disturbing the adjacent environments. Farrat designed and supplied several products including; CineWALL PRO partition base track isolation, CineTIMBER LITE isolation strips, for lightweight stadia seating isolation, and CineFLOOR LITE acoustic floating floors specifically engineered for auditoriums which were also fully installed, and quality assured by our expert site team.
The Farrat Cine range is a reliable option for acoustic isolation due to its high durability, vibration reduction, and noise-dampening properties. Our end-to-end consultation, design, and installation services ensured that our partner’s deadlines were met during the build plan of this eagerly anticipated venue.
